The Wheal Coates Tin Mine is situated on the north coast of Cornwall between Chapel Porth and Porthtowan adjacent to the South West Coast Path. This painting depicts a dramatic effect of the setting sun bursting forth behind gathering clouds over the sea behind Wheal Coates.
